What Democracy Sounds Like

They say they locked up in Cuba for their political differences
but (they're) on the U.S. payroll - they call 'em political dissidents
(they're) against la revolucion (Cuban revolution) they say it's
illegitimate - they want Cuba's land for business & political interests
celebrating independence - (they) don't want Cuba to have it's
independence - (the US) it's independence for the rich
the poor is 2nd class residents - the real gangsters is the government
money, guns, they loving it - and go to war with anyone that's in they
way of running it - they say we got freedom (in the U.S.)
free to maneuver - but find you're not free - if you want to go to Cuba
(it's illegal for U.S. citizens to travel to Cuba!) - they lying
make you wonder what they hiding 'bout the island - what you buying
why you need it - 'bout the pesticides we eating - is it freedom
in this system? Democracy arisen? it's not democracy - it's an
auction that we live in - it's a prison for your mind - for your brain
they been lying since beyond the second grade - saying black
history started when they took blacks as slaves - saying this country
started when Columbus sailed the waves - we need change

as any other stranger - the leader's lies are the danger

my mom said no! it's pathetic - I mean they so apathetic that
I'm sent to redirect it - like a spirit of Huey Newton
Black Panther resurrected - escucha la musica (listen the music)
social justicia (justice) - mind freer - appearing in every line you hear
siempre dije (I've always said) un mundo mejor es posible
a better world's possible (translation of above line) the obstacle
is greed - we believe it's not optimal - the dream is unstoppable

We the 99% - rich people are few - you can't spell revolution
without U - politicians only listen to who - - give 'em money
it's true - - they say the U.S. is a democracy - really it's a lottery
where no one wins until we stop poverty - they say success is
money but we're deceived - taught to worship greed - told don't
question the pollution that we breathe - petty criminals in prison
(while) countries ran by grand thieves - the two major parties
they share a lot of values - like money, money, money and corruption
where's the balance? the desire for material things it keeps growing
like a cancer - (I'm) envisioning a whole new system where
spreading love is the answer - that's all we saying in protests
that we set up - but to sew the seed more people need to get up
stop following orders - stop thinking what they tell ya
what they tell ya's not for love - it's for money what they sell ya

The best vitamin for a revolutionary is B-1 - the best way for
reforming this system is for it to be done - all we want is for people
to have what they need - governments just want power they just
act to max greed - the first men that said that we have freedom here
the same men owned slaves all the days of their years
$50,000 debt for graduating college - in Cuba it's free college
look it up get the knowledge - U.S. kids go there and for free
become a doctor - the ones on top they wanna stop you from
knowing - how to get equality 'cause it stop them from growing
the states is great we got medicine for profit - we could stop it
in Cuba it's free (healthcare) they all got it - they also got it in
Europe and so many other places - not believing this injustice
I hate it - it's so blatant - but the masses see worse than
Ray Charles in the dark - 'cause they face mis-education when
their education start - olviden a menudo (they forget often)
