In Their Shoes

INTRO: Put yourself in their shoes - that means - imagine what it's like
to have another person's problems - it could be me - it could be you
it could be anyone (echo)

Imagine you got really sick and couldn't work for a year - and your
boss said, "you're fired we don't want you here." and the bank took
you house 'cause without working you couldn't make the payments
for your house so now you're sleeping on the pavement - it's basic
it's the tale - of how half the people with no money got on the path
to fail - and it's bleak - now you're living in the street - your parents
died when you were you young - you know no one who could help
you back on your feet - that's how most become homeless
so think about this speech when you meet 'em in the streets
hey yo kid - that was deep - we got the best healthcare system
in the world if you got the cash - but it don't work for a lot and not
for the working class - DYFS would rather take away kids from
their mother than provide - money to help the mother buy food and
survive - the lines in my rhymes is meant for you to put yourself in
the shoes of other lives - to see the world through their eyes
not to cry but to do something to make it better at least try
- - empty inside - or empathize

HOOK: Put yourself in their shoes and do something to help

From my last album I learned what I couldn't understand - I could
rap a song in 50 different languages on command - and man you'd
still judge me by my hits and how popular I am - it's outrageous
is it more important to see lives in danger and save it - or you think
it's more important to be on tour and be famous? - think before choosing
do you wanna be shallow? do you wanna be stupid? do you want
a good job? if you get it - you wanna lose it? can you see who really
loses when people have nothing? imagine you're a parent and I'ma show
you something - your cousin and your daughter go to an ATM to get
the money they could spend - to see a movie - but two men kill 'em
from behind a bend - they got nothing they don't care about getting
locked up again - you can't escape inequality - it can take away
your best friend - that's how it affects all women and all men in the end
can you see what would happen if we all had what we needed?
can you feel what it's like to be poor and mistreated?
if people help each other we don't have to be defeated

OUTRO:
The message for ever protester of oppression
is everything that I've mentioned on this CD's connected
You doing nothing and thinking that you can't make a difference
but my website will tell you how you can with specifics
